Phil Willis has been active within Eurographics for many years, including periods as UK Chapter Treasurer, Chief Editor of Computer Graphics Forum, Chair of the Professional Board and Vice Chair. He is a Fellow of the Association. He has completed a period as Chair in December 2004 nd has stood down from all Executive Board commitments, believing that new faces should be at the centre of the day to day activities. He hopes to bring his experience of EG to the strategic body of the Association, the Executive Committee. He is based at the University of Bath (UK) where he is professor of computing and directs the Media Technology Research Centre. His research has been entirely within colour raster graphics, having started with the hardware design of such systems and broadened to include software and algorithmic aspects. Current interests include 2D rendering, the boundary between 2D and 3D, virtual reality, computer games and computer animation. He is a strong believer in promoting Eurographics as the only independent, Europe-based but world class organization for all visual aspects of interactive computing.
